Ramon Zenhäusern admits in an interview after his victory at Alta Badia that he was extremely nervous before the race.
Ramon Zenhäusern was not expected to start the season with a win at Alta Badia. After all, the Valaisman contested his last World Cup race in Chamonix in early February 2020. Unlike most of the other riders at the start, Zenhäusern had not competed in the giant slalom, the European Cup. or the side event in Lech in recent weeks.
Zenhäuser was happier after his hit. “I’m mega happy,” said the 28-year-old. And the 2.02m man admitted that the first serious fight after a nearly 11-month hiatus from competition was by no means a surefire success. Due to the long break, he was “extremely nervous in the last few days.” Because he didn’t know if he had done everything right in training.
No maneuvers in the second race
Zen houses obviously have that. The night race in Madonna di Campiglio will start on Tuesday night with the red starting number of the discipline leader. “I’m on the right track,” says Zenhäusern.
The tactic for the 2nd race at Alta Badia, in which Zenhäusern advanced from 8th to 1st place, was simple: “There was no tactic. Because everything was so close after the first race, there was just the motto full speed. “
9 races, 10 podiums
With his triumph, Zenhäusern continued an impressive series of Swiss men. With the exception of the parallel competition in Lech, Swiss-Ski always led at least one rider to the top 3 in all 9 races (10 podium places, 3 wins). Zenhäuser said: “It is good that this series continues.”
