There were only five left. Steckborn City Council faces yet another bloodshed with the immediate resignation of City Councilor and Vice President Michaela Dähler. The city council granted his request for dismissal on Monday, according to a press release from the Steckborn city council.

To the point that you no longer want to share responsibilities

Spicy: The message originally came from the pen of the majority of the city council. But the public does not see this information. It says: “As the main reason for her resignation, Michaela Dähler mentions the serious deficiencies of the mayor in the conduct and execution of the position.” They had reached a level that they could no longer bear or share responsibilities.

Dähler’s resignation will create a big wedge in the city council, “as the committed vice president was always careful to work together to find solutions and treat each other with respect.”

Things have been simmering in Steckborn city hall for months after Gregor Rominger also resigned from city hall due to “different views on the administration.” As a result, events unfolded and the majority of the city council accused Pulfer of “personal deficiencies in leadership skills.” After an internal power struggle within city hall and city hall, former city clerk Hanns Wipf resigned. The “Steckborn plus” project, which started due to disputes, has since been suspended.

The official version of the city hall looks different

The official press release that the city secretary sent out on an interim basis at the urging of the city president, Roman Pulfer, says nothing about the possible reasons for Dähler’s current resignation. Among other things, it says:

“The city council thanks Dähler for his great commitment and wishes him all the best for the future, both professionally and privately.”

Dähler has been a member of the city council since July 2017, responsible for the environment, nature and agriculture. Since she was reelected in 2019, the non-party, born in 1970, has been vice president of the city. She also represented the city as a delegate to the Ortbild Foundation, the KVA Thurgau Association, and Spitex Thurgau Nordwest.

The replacement election for the city council seat vacated by Dähler will take place on Sunday, January 10, 2021. Nominations for the election must be submitted to the city chancellery by Monday, November 16. The second campaign in the race for the vacant seat of Councilman Gregor Rominger will follow on Sunday, October 25. Kathrin Mancuso and Jack Rietiker fight for it.
