This integration is part of the “H2Orizon” modernization project announced in 2018, as the company announced on Tuesday. As part of this project, Nestlé invested 25 million francs in Treize-Cantons.
The aim is to modernize production and make it more flexible, Nestlé Waters Switzerland chief Alessandro Rigoni said in the press release. The greater efficiency of the processes and systems allows an annual saving of 25,000 cubic meters of water, 250 tons of CO2 and more than 1,000 trips by truck in the town of Henniez.
The old Henniez Village factory is history. The last bottles of “Granini” and “Hohes C” were filled there at the end of October. In the course of November, the production line will be dismantled and transported step by step to Treize-Cantons, where it will be installed at the end of the year. The approximately 30 employees will work at Treize-Cantons in the future.
The first mineral water bottling plant was put into operation at the Henniez Village location 115 years ago. Granini fruit juices have been produced there since 1979 and later also “Hohes C”. Nestlé took over Henniez a good twelve years ago. The majority shareholder, the Rouge family, then sold their shares to the group to ensure the survival of the brand.
