All Ukrainians in quarantine: Nati’s game today is canceled

The League of Nations match between Switzerland and Ukraine cannot take place at least on Tuesday.

As announced by the Ukrainian federation, UEFA made this decision after the Lucerne canton doctor ordered quarantine for the entire national team and staff of the Ukrainians after new cases of crown among Eastern Europeans. UEFA will decide in the next few hours whether the Lucerne match can take place at another time.

After the positive findings of the crown of Yevgeni Makarenko, Eduard Sobol and Dimitri Risnyk on Monday, the entire team and supervisory staff in Ukraine were evaluated again. Again there were several positive cases.

According to the Swiss Football Association, “the ball is now in the hands of UEFA for the implementation of Switzerland – Ukraine”. A postponement until Wednesday would be possible under UEFA regulations, if the Ukrainians can have at least 13 players (including a goalkeeper) available within 24 hours. In the room there is apparently a late nomination of several national U21 and U20 players by the Ukrainians.

If UEFA were to cancel the match entirely, the European federation’s disciplinary committee would make a decision. An obvious decision would be a 3-0 forfait defeat of Ukraine.

In the match between Switzerland and Ukraine it would be against relegation from League A of the Nations League. The Eastern Europeans are three points clear of Switzerland before this final group stage match. (zap / pre / sda)
