- The ZSC Lions win an insane, top scorer game in the 38th round of the National League by 7: 6 after overtime.
- The SCL Tigers (against Davos) and Ambri-Piotta (in Lausanne) improve compared to the applause last Friday and each take a point.
- Biel defeats the Lakers after a 3-2 penalty shootout.
Zug – ZSC Leones 6: 7 nV
When Sven Andrighetto scored 5: 6 10 minutes before the end of regulation time, the ZSC suddenly returned to the game against Zug. After a horrible start, the Zurich team were already 0: 4 behind after 25 minutes. But a crazy middle third and 3 goals from Denis Hollenstein launched the Lions chase. At the latest after Andrighetto’s goal, all sovereignty had disappeared from Zug’s ranks. And indeed: rookie Ryan Lasch pushed the puck over the line in a crowd with double the majority. The momentum was now definitely tilted and indeed: In overtime, Garrett Roe scored the winning goal at 7: 6.
The duels of the 3 previous seasons were all won by Zug, including a 6: 3 and an 8: 2. At first everything pointed to a continuation of the series. Yannick Zehnder scored after just 23 seconds, Dario Simion doubled after around 3 minutes. With that, the ZSC goalkeeper Lukas Flüeler’s workday was over. Ludovic Waeber did not do much better, after 6 minutes of ice age he too had to be defeated by Simion.
Tigres SCL – Davos 3: 4 nV
Things were better for the SCL Tigers than last Friday’s 2: 9 at Davos. The Bernese Oberland only had to admit defeat to HCD this time in extra time. And even Julian Schmutz almost became the winner of the Tigers game. The forward made it 3-2 in the 48th minute. At the end of the season, of all things, he switched to his opponent Davos.
But veteran Andrés Ambühl tied with a distractor 3 minutes before the end. In extra time, Schmutz became a big loser: he arrived too late to goalkeeper Sandro Aeschlimann and thus allowed Davos to score the winning goal in the 4 on 3. Enzo Corvi with his penalty.
Lausanne – Ambri-Piotta 2: 1 nP
Ambri-Piotta also cheated better in Lausanne than last Friday at home (0: 6). The game was marked by many duels and few occasions. Overall, Lausanne probably had a bit more of the game, but didn’t show enough strength in front of goal. Brian Gibbons’ 1-0 for the Vaudois fell after a distractor (7th), who happily passed goalkeeper Benjamin Conz. Ambris’s draw marked Ticino’s 4th row against the best of Lausanne. Diego Kostner was the scorer (35th).
Lakers – Biel 2: 3 nP
Biel also won the season three match against Rapperswil. The Zeelanders prevailed thanks to heavy gunfire. While only Leandro Profico was able to seize his attempt against Joren van Pottelberghe in St. Gallen, Konstantin Komarek, Yannick Rathgeb and Jason Fuchs found themselves on Biel’s side.
Things were not looking good for the Lakers after just 39 minutes. When the score was 1: 2 – Biel had changed Rapperswil’s early lead with a double hit from Petteri Lindbohm (29th) and Ramon Tanner (33rd) – goalkeeper Melvin Nyffeler was injured from the ice. Immediately after the goalkeeper change, two things happened: On the one hand, Kevin Clark tied at 2-2 before the third break. On the other hand, Nyffeler’s substitute, Noël Bader, kept his box clean, until he had to be defeated in the penalty shoot-out.
