Zug runs over the Lions in a great fight: Bern celebrates a clear victory in the derby against Biel
Shows of strength by Zug and Berna: EVZ brought down the Lions in the main game, SCB in the Biel derby. Meanwhile, HC Davos suffered their third defeat in the fourth game of the season.
Train – ZSC 8: 2
A day after the 6: 3 away win, EV Zug again prevailed against the ZSC Lions, this time even 8: 2. The Swiss center-back replaced the Zurich team as the leader after their sixth win in seven championship games. this season.
The firing ratio says nothing about the quality of the finishes. But it has a bit of expressiveness. After 40 minutes it was 28:17 (38:20 total) in favor of the Lions, but the play led 6: 1.
The fact that Central Switzerland were 3-0 up in the 19th minute was also due to luck. In both Sven Leuenberger’s (6th) 2-0 and Yannick-Lennart Albrecht’s 3-0, EVZ benefited from the puck bouncing off the boards in front of goal. Ryan McLeod’s 1-0 loss, which fell 35 seconds before 2-0, was preceded by a big mistake by ZSC defender Johann Morant, who has played for EVZ for the past six seasons.
As a result, the people of Zug started a gala. They had already defeated the Lions once before by six goals, in a 10: 4 away win on January 22, 1994. McLeod scored in the 43rd minute at 7: 1 and stood out as Dario Simion, who did the 4: 0 (24) and 8: 1 (51) scored as a double scorer. For McLeod, a 21-year-old Canadian, it was the first two goals of the championship in the EVZ suit.
In the meantime, the Lions need to ask themselves some questions. In the two games against Zug they conceded the same number of goals as in the first seven games of the championship combined.

Not your typical scorers scored the goals: Jeremi Gerber (2-0) and Gregory Sciaroni (6-0) scored for the first time this season; Inti Pestoni (1-0), Mika Henauer (3-0) and Tristan Scherwey (4-0) each scored their second goal. Swede Ted Brithén scored his third goal in a week and Canadian Dustin Jeffrey was on the ice for four of the six goals.
And Biel? In Zealand, coach Lars Leuenberger did not return to Bern. The Zeelanders need to rethink their defensive game: since the 6-0 win over Lausanne, the EHCB have conceded at least four goals in every game.

Roman Cervenka secured five points for the Lakers this week. He had scored the only goal on Tuesday. In the home game Cervenka contributed another goal (2: 2), the other two goals from St. Gallen that he prepared.
Bitter for Langnau: Kevin Clark thrives alongside Cervenka, who once turned out to be too easy for the Tigers. Clark decided the game 3-2 for the Lakers in the 63rd minute after setting up Cervenka’s only goal on Tuesday.

Lugano – Davos 4: 3 nV
Lugano came back from quarantine with a spectacular game. The Ticino team led 2-0 and 3-2 and finally defeated HC Davos, deservedly 4: 3 after extra time.
The two teams put on an offensive show with 83 shots on goal (44:39 for Lugano). It was dramatic at the end: Swede Magnus Nygren managed a 3: 3 tie for Davos 2.1 seconds before the end. Nygren and Thornton, each with a goal and an assist, saved Davos from a point (luckily). In extra time, Mark Arcobello secured the victory with his second goal of the season in Lugano.
The Luganesi did not realize the ten days of quarantine. Unlike Friborg-Gottéron, for example, Lugano was able to train on the ice during the time-out prescribed by the authorities. Surprising: Davos has played fewer games than quarantine clubs so far; only four, three of them were lost.

Lausanne – Ambri 3: 2
The Lausanne Hockey Club also won their third home game 3-2 against Ambri-Piotta in front of 4,341 spectators. Lausanne had already won 3-2 against Leventines on Tuesday, then away and only after extra time. On Tuesday Denis Malgin scored two and Christoph Bertschy scored one goal. Three days later they did it the other way around: Malgin put Lausanne ahead in the 32nd minute, Bertschy secured the victory with two goals.
Thanks to the success in the table, the Lausanne team improved to second place. Like EV Zug, Lausanne scored 17 points in the first three weeks; the Vaudois, however, needed one more game.
In Lausanne this time Tobias Stephan (30 saves) returned to guard the gate. In the final 134 minutes, Stephan only conceded two goals. With him at the helm of the area, Lausanne also celebrated its most valuable victory to date: the 3-0 win in Zug a week ago.
