The corona virus does not stop in front of the Federal Palace: National Councilor SVP Alfred Heer (58) tested positive last week. “I have no symptoms, but I have to stay in isolation until Thursday,” he wrote when asked by VIEW.
Heer is by no means the only citizen of Zurich affected by the virus. Due to the high number of cases, the canton’s contact tracing team is already so on the attack that it can no longer inform the contact persons of infected people in all cases.
Heer sat next to Keller-Sutter
However, the army is not normal. Because just a few days before the positive result, the SVP politician chaired a meeting of the Business Audit Commission (GPK) of the National Council, which, among other things, oversees the Department of Justice (FDJP).
In addition to the members of the commission, Justice Minister Karin Keller-Sutter (56) also participated in the meeting at the Federal Palace. And as BLICK knows, the Federal Advisor to the FDP sat alongside the potentially contagious army for over 15 minutes!
Keller-Sutter was protected “everywhere”
Shouldn’t Keller-Sutter now have to be quarantined? No, says the Department of Justice in reference to the concept of protection of Parliament. This provides for Plexiglass partitions in council rooms and meeting rooms. “Federal Councilor Karin Keller-Sutter was completely protected at the GPK meeting by a Plexiglas partition,” writes the FDJP. As a result, he never had direct contact with the army.
According to the guidelines of the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG), only people who have been in “close contact” with a sick person should be quarantined. Due to adequate protective measures, the Federal Councilor also refrained from taking the test.
There was also a nod for MPs on Friday afternoon: the GPK secretariat informed them in an email that due to the dividing walls there was only a “low risk of infection” and that there was no need to withdraw into quarantine.
So far, all federal councilors have been negative
Since the Federal Council is supposed to lead the country through the crisis, special caution is required with members of the government. Several federal advisers were tested for the virus during the pandemic.
Justice Minister Keller-Sutter too: When a staff member of the FDJP general secretary fell ill and had a fever a few weeks ago, the liberal immediately underwent a Covid test. As before with all federal councilors, the result was negative.
