A shock message from Russia shakes Formula 1: As the agency “TASS” reports, Alexander Petrov was killed in Russia on Saturday.
He was the father of former Formula 1 driver Vitaly Petrov (57 races between 2010 and 2012), who works in Portugal as a race commissioner for the FIA. As confirmed by the FIA, Petrov Jr. has been relieved of this position.
The background to the murderous attack is still unclear. The murdered Petrow’s father was in his hometown of Vyborg, in northwestern Russia, as a businessman and also politically active in the city administration. Now he was assassinated at the age of 61. (Red)
