It’s one of those dire scenarios parents dread: the child who was there just now can suddenly no longer be found.
On Thursday afternoon, a girl (5) left Engadin at the Muottas Muragl hill station without being noticed. Family members can no longer find him, alert rescuers. A great search begins: the track patrol, the Alpine Club SAC and private individuals help with the search on the ground. Rega is in action in the air.
Slightly hypothermic girls
When the search was initially unsuccessful, an additional Rega helicopter was deployed. It has a highly sensitive thermal camera. With the help of this multi-sensor search system, the five-year-old can be located a few hundred meters south of the hill station on the slope.
The child is mildly hypothermic, but otherwise unharmed. Rega’s team at the Samedan base can rescue the girl with the rescue crane and take her to the nearest hospital. (joins)
