In mid-March, Jolanda Neff took one of the last flights to the United States. There he can prepare for the season despite Corona.
Due to the crown pandemic, many professional athletes today have to organize their training differently than usual. This does not apply to Jolanda Neff. The mountain biker has been in the U.S. state of North Carolina since mid-March, where she can train freely with her boyfriend and downhill professional Luca Shaw.
This, despite the fact that life in the United States has been quiet for weeks. “We actually live year-round like we’re in quarantine,” Neff said in a recent interview with the Appenzeller News. The 27-year-old explains that they spend a lot of time at home, training alone or as a couple on a bicycle in the woods. Also, they hardly ever go to bars or restaurants.
On the way back to the old way
Neff is still recovering from his severe training last fall, when the Swiss woman contracted a tear in her spleen, internal bleeding and a broken rib. Neff’s goal is to be able to intervene again at the end of May. It is not clear if the competitions can take place again by then.
