EM mountain bike: Juniors with silver and bronze
Juniors Janis Baumann and Luke Wiedmann won two more medals for Swiss cycling at the European Mountain Bike Championships in Ticino. In the home race in the distance discipline, the two only had to give way to the Danish Oliver Verdersö Sölvhöj. Baumann took the silver, Wiedmann the bronze against his teammate Dario Lillo, who was fourth. At U23, Joel Roth and Vital Albin celebrated a double win on Saturday.
Downhill World Cup: Balanche lost the podium
Camille Balanche couldn’t take advantage of her World Cup golden shot a week ago at the Downhill World Cup. The 30-year-old from Neuchâtel finished seventh (Sunday) and eighth (Friday) in both races at Maribor. Germany’s Nina Hoffmann claimed victory on Sunday ahead of French Marine Cabirou, who had won 48 hours earlier. The last two races of the shortened World Cup will take place in Lousa, Portugal, in 2 weeks.
