Formula 1: Grosjean is not in Abu Dhabi
Romain Grosjean, who had an accident at the Bahrain Grand Prix a week ago, will have to resign at the end of the season in Abu Dhabi (December 13) after missing the start in Sakhir on Sunday. The last GP of the year would probably have been the last Formula 1 race for the French-speaking Swiss. Like Kevin Magnussen, the 34-year-old, who drives with a French license, will have to leave the Haas racing team at the end of the year. The Americans face the next World Cup year with Russia’s Nikita Masepin and German Mick Schumacher.
Formula 2: Schumacher is world champion
Mick Schumacher won the Formula 2 championship. In the final race of the season in Bahrain, the son of Formula 1 legend Michael was satisfied with a no-nonsense performance at 18th place because his last remaining opponent, Callum Ilott was unable to get past 11th place. For Schumacher it is the second major title after winning the Formula 3 European Championship in 2018. Starting in 2021, the 21-year-old will compete in the “queen class” for Haas.
Rally: seventh world title for Ogier
Frenchman Sebastien Ogier is the 7th World Rally Champion. The 36-year-old Toyota driver won the seventh and final round of the World Championship at Monza (ITA) on Sunday and surpassed fellow British brand Elvyn Evans in the overall standings. For Ogier it was the 49th World Cup victory. In the best list of all time, Ogier raised his compatriot Sebastien Loeb to 2 titles. Last year Estonian Ott Tänak won the World Rally Championship in a Toyota.
