In Venezuela, a family of five died of Corona because the mother had hidden the infection out of fear. Verónica García Fuentes, 36, presented the first symptoms in mid-December 2020: high fever, constant sneezing and general malaise.
When two corona tests came back positive, he isolated himself but did not tell his family about his infection. Instead, he cheated in that he had a serious flu. That is reported by “La Nación.”
Only a week later, when her 33-year-old husband, José Antonio Gómez, wanted to attend a family celebration, she came out with the truth to avoid contagion between relatives.
As a precaution, the entire San Cristóbal family in the west of the country was isolated. But from then on it became dramatic.

In mid-January, the mother developed pneumonia and had to be admitted to the hospital. Now the husband and children, 17-year-old daughter Nicol Verónica Gómez García and four-year-old twins Jhoneider Stiven and Jhoneiker Emmanuel Gómez García, have tested positive.
The husband’s condition deteriorated dramatically. “In the chest X-ray, all the lungs were black,” says Verónica’s sister, Mariela Gómez, of “La Nación.” Veronica died on January 18, her husband a day later. Due to his poor condition, the doctors had not informed him of the death of his wife.

The Corona children also died a few days later, a month and a half after the mother tested positive.
The drama could have been avoided if Verónica García Fuentes had had the courage to tell the truth from the beginning.
