The race for the corona vaccine began in early January 2020. A vaccine must be found as soon as possible, but still safely. American pharmaceutical giant Moderna was also involved early on.
According to a report in “New York Magazine”, Moderna developed the vaccine at lightning speed. It only took two days to develop the vaccine. On January 11, the Chinese authorities disclosed the genetic sequence of the new coronavirus to Moderna.
The simple virus
Two days later, on January 13, the Moderna research team and the American National Institute of Health prepared the mRNA sequence. “It is not a complicated virus,” says Moderna boss Stéphane Bancel. After that, Moderna produced an initial clinical series of the virus.
The vaccine then went through several stages of development. In May, the first phase of the study showed basic safety. The third phase in particular was crucial. Then thousands of people try the vaccine. In October Moderna completed recruitment.
Admission in Switzerland
