Valais model Alizée Gaillard (35) is delighted. She had her first child in her adoptive home in Los Angeles, USA: A girl named Ayla Star. “We feel so blessed,” says Gaillard. The little one was born just before Christmas. They wanted to keep their luck to themselves during the holiday season, Gaillard said.
Little Ayla Star’s father is internet entrepreneur Jorge David Gafter (34), with whom Gaillard has been together for two good years. I didn’t want to wait to have children. “After all, I come from a large family,” he says. Gaillard has seven siblings. How could I think I wanted to be a mother, she adds.
Worked for Prada and Louis Vuitton
Alizée Gaillard has been one of the most successful models in the country for 15 years. In 2005 she surprisingly won the French talent show “France’s Next Top Model”. Star designers and world-class brands such as Prada, Louis Vuitton and L’Oréal immediately competed for the Swiss woman, whom they nickname “Angelina Jolie of the Alps” due to their similarities.
In 2013, Gaillard settled in Los Angeles to study acting. In the metropolis of American cinema, she falls in love with actor Darrin Charles (38) and marries. After six years the divorce follows.
The pregnancy was exhausting at first
Through mutual acquaintances, she finally gets to know the father of her newborn daughter. The first three months of her pregnancy were exhausting, Gaillard recalls. “He was often sick and tired, and spent a lot of time in bed.” But then the tiredness suddenly disappeared and she took great pleasure in her pregnancy.
She also benefited professionally from her tummy. “In North America there is a huge market for pregnant models,” says Gaillard. A few weeks before the birth, she was still in front of the camera for a series of photos in a baby fashion catalog.
Gaillard admits that he misses Switzerland, old friends and family. He would also like to re-experience the four seasons. But the future of his new family is in the United States, he says.
