Ajla Del Ponte showed a good performance in the Ostrava meeting and took second place in the 150m distance that is rarely covered. Ticino only had to admit defeat to Dafne Schippers of the Netherlands, two-time world champion in the 200m. Schippers crossed the finish line in 16.56 seconds. Del Ponte lost his 7-week Swiss record of 16.74 by 7 hundredths.
4. Places for Moser and Sprunger
Pole vaulter Angelica Moser was disappointed. A week ago he had jumped 4.64 m in Lausanne, but failed in Ostrava at 4.44 m. With a single valid attempt, Moser was fourth with 4.34m.
Lea Sprunger also landed fourth in over 300m hurdles. In 39.54 seconds she lost her Swiss record by 61 hundredths.
Warholm clearly fails
The approximately 5000 spectators in the Czech Republic did not see any new world records of more than 400m hurdles for men. Strong Karsten Warholm (NOR) clearly missed Kevin Young’s best 28-year-old performance (46.78 seconds) at 47.62.
