After the first Corona case was known in a Basel bar, the canton doctor Steffen intervened: In the future, the “mask-free zone” will be banned at Bar Rouge.
The number of people who must be quarantined has now risen to around 65. A mask for the Basel-Stadt health department said Tuesday when asked by the Keystone-SDA news agency that masks are now required in all floors of the Bar Rouge on Messeplatz.
A 35-year-old woman who was in Bar Rouge last Friday tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday. Her partner’s test was also positive.
The canton’s medical service assumed on Monday that there were around 40 close contacts who had danced with the woman in the “mask-free zone.” The number of those people has now increased to around 65.
The number of people in quarantine is increasing significantly
“From conversations with registered contact persons at Bar Rouge, around 10 additional contact persons could be found,” the spokeswoman said. In addition, around 15 people who also met the definition of close contact persons reportedly reported on the basis of the press release.
The canton of Basel-Stadt recorded 6 new infections on Tuesday. 54 people were isolated. The number of people in quarantine increased from 106 to 678 and consists of 123 contact persons and 555 returning travelers. The number of deaths was unchanged at 57.
