Former editor and editor-in-chief of the Basler Zeitung, Markus Somm, plans to take over the satirical monthly magazine “Nebelspalter”. This is what the “Handelszeitung” writes in its latest edition. With the planned acquisition of “Nebelspalter”, Somm wants to realize a conservative media project that was previously under the working title of “Säntis”. The 55-year-old bourgeois journalist does not want to comment on the project at the moment: “We only communicate when we can communicate.”
According to available information from the Handelszeitung, the new “Nebelspalter” will have up to 70 investors on hand, each of whom is said to have invested 100,000 francs in the media project. This means that up to 7 million francs will be available to fund the planned editorial team of 15 people in a start-up phase that will last several years.
Amag’s owner Haefner on board
According to the “Handelszeitung”, the donor pool should also include influential business leaders. We’re talking about Marcel Erni and Alfred Gantner, the two very wealthy co-founders of the private equity firm Partners Group. The billionaire and owner of Amag, Martin Haefner, should also support the project. Also, former SVP national councilor and automobile dealer Walter Frey. Former banker Konrad Hummler, who previously chaired the “Neue Zürcher Zeitung”, is being discussed as president. (pbe)
