In online voting through the Basellandschaftliche Zeitung, Dolder relegated Athletics Club Therwil and TV Gelterkinden to places two and three, respectively, he said.
Dolder was recognized for his athletic achievements, which led him to the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. This made him the first participant in a Nordic individual sport from Basel. Other major international successes included his sixth place in a World Cup race in Oestersund and 15th place in the 2017 Elite World Championship in Hochfilzen.

The end result was revealed by Councilwoman Monica Gschwind on Friday night. Dolder took the victory with a 36.8 percent share of the vote. It was followed by LC Therwil with 33.7 percent and TV Gelterkinden with 29.5 percent. Since last year, the second and third place have received a monetary bonus of 6,000 and 4,000 francs, respectively, according to the statement.
The celebration held at Schloss Ebenrain honored not only the candidates for the sports awards, but also the winners of the sponsorship and recognition awards. Two of the three endorsement awards went to the sport of ice hockey. The recognition awards were presented to Jürg Chrétien from Sissach and Willi Wenger from Lupsingen. Government Councilor Gschwind emphasized in her speech that these two laureates had volunteered for decades and would campaign for the sport in Basel.
