Bayer Leverkusen continued its downward trend in the championship, but could barely avoid another defeat. Antonio Conte’s team got off to a brilliant start in the Milan derby. Lautaro Martínez put the visiting Derby team ahead in minute 5. The decision in the head duel brought the phase midway through the second half. In nine minutes, Inter drew 3-0 in a balanced game. Once again Martínez (57th) and Romelu Lukaku (66th) scored the goals.

AC Milan experienced another setback in the title race after Stefano Pioli’s side ran into trouble and for the championship lead eleven days ago with a 2-0 loss to relegation-threatened Spezia. Next week brings little relief for the Rojinegros. The second leg against Red Star Belgrade is scheduled for Thursday in the Europa League (2-2 first leg), followed by the third match against AS Roma on Sunday.
