FC Zurich part ways with coach Ludovic Magnin with immediate effect. His successor may already be on the starting grid: Marc Schneider, who resigned from FC Thun on Monday.

According to a press release from FC Thun, the former Bernese Oberland player decided to take this step himself after losing at home to Xamax (1: 3) last Friday. Pascal Cerrone runs the training courses at FC Thun on an interim basis. The search for a successor continues. Thun is there with a counter after three laps.

The Thun native previously stayed true to his regular club in various coaching positions even after his active career. He took over the leadership of the first team in 2017. The 40-year-old’s greatest successes are reaching the 2019 Cup final and qualifying for the Europa League that same year.

Is something already running in the background?

Schneider’s heart beats not only for FC Thun, but also for FC Zurich, where the now 40-year-old played with a hiatus between 2002 and 2007 and held two championships (2006, 2007) and a cup (2005). If you add one and one together, you come to the conclusion that Schneider could be the perfect successor to FCZ coach Ludovic Magnin, who was released on Monday.
