Federal Councilor SVP Ueli Maurer (69) is a master of provocation. With his appearance in the SVP special edition of the limitation initiative, he aroused the discontent of his colleagues in government. Now back to back it up: In a Facebook photo, he poses with former party leader Toni Brunner (46) at his country inn, Sonne.
Nothing special, really, if it weren’t for his shirt. “Tell me, where are you?” He says in bold. And: “The damn bailiffs are back in the country!” In the run-up to the vote, another expression of sympathy for the SVP initiative and against the EU.
SVP Friedli is happy
The photo was posted by SVP campaign manager and national councilor Esther Friedli (43, SG). “I posted some photos of nice encounters and occasions this summer with us at the Casa de la Libertad,” he tells BLICK. “Federal Councilor Ueli Maurer came to see us during her summer vacation in July, as a completely normal guest.”
He was away from home in his spare time and was happy to spend some cozy hours with them. “And of course we were very happy!” Friedli said. “Especially Toni’s brother Andi, who is a huge fan of Ueli Maurer.” Andi Brunner also poses with the Federal Council in another photo.
Friedli also reveals that Maurer was wearing the shirt when he arrived.
What pleases the SVP campaign leader should again cause displeasure in the Federal Council.
