100 people. This is the maximum number of people allowed at one time in a club or bar in Aargau. Operators must also perform identity checks. The canton has extended these currently valid requirements until the end of the year. The health department announced this yesterday. And the canton has extended another requirement until the end of the year: the sectors must be required for events in which no protection measures can be observed.
of 100 people each and the contact details are collected.
These measures have so far achieved their goal, writes the canton. The contact tracing center is not overwhelmed and larger outbreaks in clubs or bars have been prevented. At the same time, however, there is no loosening of the situation. “The risk of infection is still greater when many people gather in a confined space for a long time without observing distance rules or other protective measures,” the canton writes in its announcement. Therefore, there is currently no reason to lift the applicable measures there.
Large events must be approved by the canton
At the same time, big events, with conditions, will be possible again from October. This is based on a decision of the Federal Council. Organizers must obtain a permit from the canton to do so. The corresponding form will be available on the canton’s website from Thursday. The organizers must conduct a risk analysis and present a protection concept. For example, the flow of people must be directed “sensibly” and there is a basic seating requirement.
In order to approve events, the canton must take two points into account, stipulates the federal government. First: The epidemiological situation in the canton must allow it to take place. Second: the capabilities of the contact tracing center must allow an event to be held. Contact tracing resources would be tailored to need, says Michel Hassler, a spokesman for the health department. “Basically, the contact tracing center should be able to trace the infection chains and order the quarantine for close contacts,” he adds.
With the current epidemiological situation in the canton, would an event with more than 1000 people be approved? “Yes, but the deciding factors are the risk analysis and the concept of protection, as well as other federal and cantonal conditions,” says Hassler. For example, they work closely with the organizers of the Hallwilerseelauf to make this possible.
Canton sees no contradiction in the rules
The limit of 100 in clubs and bars will be extended, the limit of 1000 for major events will be dropped. Events that take place in hallways or other indoor spaces are theoretically possible again. Is not that a contradiction?
The first step is to limit the number of close contacts when going to bars and clubs, ”says Hassler. This is necessary because the health department suspects that there is a relatively high risk of transmission in these restaurants. Large events should show in their protection concepts, among other things, “how they intend to ensure that there are no close contacts there.” Distance rules must be strictly adhered to and seating is mandatory, Hassler stresses. In professional league sporting events, in addition to various other requirements, the mask requirement also applies.
Private events: 300 people allowed
Finally, on Monday, the canton announced an amendment to the applicable crown rules. In the case of private events in places that are not open to the public, it has not been necessary to install sectors or take other protection measures if a maximum of 1000 people were present. Only contact details had to be collected. The upper limit for private events is now 300 people.
