Ledecka wins Super-G – 3rd place on the podium in race 3 for Suter – Sport

The podium

Corinne Suter and Val d’Isère, that fits. The Swiss speed specialist will also salute the podium on Sunday. After her victory on Friday and second place in the second downhill the following day, Suter was again second in the first Super-G of the season.

In the last intervening period, Suter was still very thin ahead of the victorious Ester Ledecka. But then the Schwyzerin made a small mistake on the finish slope. This was enough to turn a 0.08 second lead into a 0.03 second deficit.

Ledecka’s second joke

For Ledecka, the 2018 Super G Olympic champion, it is the first ever Super G triumph in the world. Previously, the Czech had only won the descent at Lake Louise in December 2019. In his parade sport of alpine snowboarding, Ledecka has already won 18 World Cups. The last of them was held on December 12 in Cortina.

Lara Gut-Begami showed a good run and was in fourth place for a long time. She was only overtaken by the Italian Marta Bassino (start 17), who drove 0.32 seconds faster than Ticino. Michelle Gisin finished ninth on the second downhill on Saturday.

After the start of the speed season in Val d’Isère, now it’s the technicians’ turn again. A giant slalom (December 28) and a slalom (December 29) are on the program in Semmering (AUT) in the week of the old year. The new year will kick off on January 3 in Zagreb with another slalom.
