Nidwalden’s is third in the Super-G at Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Austria celebrates a double win.

Marco Odermatt took the podium for the second time in a row in the Super-G. After finishing second at Kitzbühel, the one from Nidwalden finished third at Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Odermatt started cautiously, but was able to get it up after the second half to secure a place in the top 3. Overall, he is on the podium for the third time in this discipline. In 2019 he had succeeded at Beaver Creek.
With the appearance in Garmisch, Odermatt underlined that he is also one of the medal candidates in the Super-G at the Cortina d’Ampezzo World Cup on Tuesday. Vincent Kriechmayr is the favorite in title fights. As in Kitzbühel, the Austrian was victorious at Garmisch. At 0.17 seconds, his compatriot Matthias Mayer, still third in Kitzbühel, was second.

On Tuesday the men will start the World Cup in Cortina d’Ampezzo with a Super-G. Kriechmayr is the only driver who was able to win 2 races this winter. The other 3 winners in this discipline were Mauro Caviezel, Aleksander Kilde (end of season due to cruciate ligament tear) and Ryan Cochran-Siegle.

Loïc Meillard convinces in the Super-G for the second time in a row. After finishing ninth in Kitzbühel, Valais achieved their career-best result in this discipline in seventh place at Garmisch. Beat Feuz was happy for the best result this season. The Schangnau man, who previously finished 10th twice this winter, came in 9th.
Gino Caviezel completed the team’s strong result in 10th. Bündner thus tied their best performance in Super-G. His brother Mauro had decided not to start. He still feels the aftermath of his concussion. There were points for Ralph Weber (27th) and Stefan Rogentin (28th).
So it goes
Immediately after the race, they travel to Cortina d’Ampezzo to attend the World Championships. The men will contest their first title fight competition on Tuesday with the Super-G. The day before, the women intervened in the battle for the world championship medals with the Alpine Combined.
