I beg your pardon? Muzaton crashes spectacularly in the downhill World Cup and lands upside down

What a spectacular scene! Maxence Muzaton picks him up when there is a wave, but the Frenchman grabs hold and lands on his skis again, backwards! An injury could have interrupted it anyway.

Vincent Kriechmayr leads the World Cup downhill with just one hundredth of a second ahead of Andreas Sander. Beat Feuz currently salutes from the podium. Meanwhile, an incredible scene provides a topic of conversation (video).

Beat Feuz just missed his second World Downhill Championship title. The Emmentaler finished third at Cortina d’Ampezzo, 18 hundredths behind Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr.

The decision for the title was very close, the closest in a downhill World Cup. Kriechmayr won with a hundredth advantage over the German Andreas Sander.

Feuz lost the fight for gold in the middle section with the much-discussed passage around the Vertigine jump in recent days. Then his deficit at Kriechmayr increased to more than seven-tenths, to a margin that he could no longer fully make up for late in the race.

Marco Odermatt finished fourth, along with Dominik Paris from South Tyrol. At Feuz, the two wasted almost half a second. However, the man from Nidwalden again indicated his potential downhill. In the World Cup he is 8th, achieved a good week ago in Garmisch. Carlo Janka qualified as the third best Swiss in ninth.

Muzaton prevents a bad fall with an incredible action

The French Maxence Muzaton caused a moment of commotion. After a good 20 seconds of riding, the 30-year-old took a hit where he lost control of his right ski. Despite the high speed, Muzaton managed to avoid a fall: the Frenchman first fell on the edges of his skis and finally landed on his feet with his back to the valley. With another half turn, he got the situation back under control and was able to turn around.
