Alexei Navalny smiles a little tired. The Kremlin critic is still in the hospital bed of the Berlin Charité. He woke up from his artificial coma a week ago.
Navalny now speaks on Instagram: “I still don’t know much, but yesterday I was able to breathe independently all day. In fact, on my own. Without outside help, not even the simplest laryngeal valve. I loved.”
Poisoned with Novichok
Navalny, who suddenly fell into a coma on a flight in his home country on August 20 and was initially examined in Omsk, is being treated at the Charité at the urging of his family.
After evaluating the clinical findings, the German doctors assumed that Navalny had been poisoned with a nerve chemical agent from the Novitschok group. The Russian government described the Berlin Charité’s assessment that Navalny had been poisoned as an eruption. (szm)
