Sudden end of season for Andri Ragettli. At the Big Air Contest at the Freestyle World Championships in Aspen, the man from Graubünden injured his knee, now the diagnosis is there, and it is devastating.

Newly crowned slopestyle world champion Andri Ragettli was unable to come off the finish slope alone after a crash on Tuesday on his last attempt at the high-speed competition. The 22-year-old had to go to the Aspen hospital.

Initially, the management did not want to provide more information or even speculation. Now the result of the MRI exam is there: Ragettli injured his posterior cruciate ligament, medial ligament, and meniscus in his left knee. The season is over for the Bündner.

Ragettli will fly back to Switzerland today, land in Kloten tomorrow Thursday and then get a closer look. It is unclear to what extent the drop may also have long-term effects, for example at the Winter Olympics in Beijing in 2022.
