Sleeping car driver drives on the track – passersby stop the train

Bystanders avoided a collision between a crashed car and a Zentralbahn (ZB) train in Kaiserstuhl OW on Sunday. A car driver driving through the valley had entered the train track due to the second dream.

The driver ran off the road shortly before Kaiserstuhl station and hit a pole on the right side, Obwalden canton police said Monday. The car broke through a barrier and then stopped on the ZB track.

At the same time a train was approaching. A police spokesman said on request that bystanders could have stopped the slow-moving composition at the entrance to the train station with a hand signal. The four people in the car could have left him alone. Two children with indeterminate injuries were transferred to a hospital outside the canton.

To recover the crashed car with a tow truck, the airline was disconnected from the ZB and rail traffic was interrupted. The street was also temporarily closed. (sda)
