They crowd, riot and attack. Even in jail, Brian K. * (25) aka “Carlos” cannot be detained. The kickboxer attacked a guard or attacked fellow inmates. For this reason, the Zurich District Court sentenced him last year to four years in prison plus a small detention. Media: The judges ordered a hospital therapeutic measure. The permanent offender appealed against him. He recently dismantled a specially built cell in the Pöschwies prison. Cost: 1.85 million francs.
But that didn’t impress the 25-year-old. “It broke so fast that I was surprised myself,” says Brian K. now in a contribution to SRF “Rundschau” who visited him in prison. He was simply scared because he discovered a camera in the cell.
Brian destroyed his cell: “It broke so fast”(02:13)
Other recordings of Pöschwies show the strength and anger that the young man carries. They are from April 9, 2019. Six prison employees are called for a walk. They take him out of his cell with full protective equipment. The mood is tense and eventually escalates. Brian K. spits in the direction of the officers. There is a fight. Only six of them can tame the prisoner. Nothing will come out of the hike.
“I am perfect as I am”
The images show how stagnant the situation is. Even a short walk in the fresh air is not possible. Brian K. sees everyone as an enemy. Every day is a fight. Y: In solitary confinement, his anger continues to grow. “It gives me strength. I’m not going to put up with that. If they want to lose me, they have to kill me, ”he said in an interview with SRF.
Also, he sleeps little. “I only sleep three to four hours each night. I’m always irritable, ”he continues. You may take medicine to control your emotions. But Brian K. strictly rejects it. I am perfect as I am. I don’t want to change anything, ”says the prison boxer. That nothing changes is not due to lack of will. “It just doesn’t work,” says Brian K.
“If they killed me, I would be much more human”
The long solitary confinement bothered him. “It eats you inside.” His fear of having to live behind bars forever is even greater. Custody is inhuman. If they killed me, it would be much more humane. “Otherwise, he would want to be killed. Scared so much there is no other option but to shoot him. The 25-year-old looks desperate in the SRF interview. In solitary confinement, he feels so alone looking for someone to talk to. Even his enemies, the prison staff. “You just want to talk to someone.” The recordings show Brian K. berating one of the guards and threatening them.
Brian K. has been in the judiciary for years. There doesn’t seem to be a solution as to how to treat him behind bars. In June, he was transferred from the Pöschwies prison to Lenzburg AG; he returned a short time later. The Pöschwie set up four cells specially: one cell was painted pink. Staff also received specific training and new protective equipment was provided. Then the special cell for almost two million was built. Vain! Brian K. dialed again. And there is no improvement in sight.
