The great ranking of journalists 2020 – watson obtained two categories

Each year, the industry magazine “Schweizer Journalist” determines the best journalists in the country in an audience vote. Three SRF journalists win the main category, Watson wins in two categories.

By the end of the year, almost 1,000 media professionals vote online to vote for the best and most influential Swiss journalists. The contest is organized by the industry magazine “Schweizer Journalist”. A preliminary jury composed of 40 industry representatives nominates the candidates. Notable this year: women won nine out of ten categories.

Journalists of the year

SRF is back in the top spot. After “Echo der Zeit” host Nicoletta Cimmino won the main category last year, this year she is in Trio of journalists from the SRF “Rundschau” program on the first podium.

The verdict is clear: 43.5 percent of the votes went to the online voting of the “Swiss journalist” Fiona Change, Nicole Vögele and Anielle Peterhans. Together with colleagues from the Second German Television (ZDF) and the Washington Post, they revealed the background to one of the most important secret service stories in recent Swiss history. The American and German secret service owned Crypto AG. And the latter delivered the encryption devices to everyone.

Editor-in-chief of the year

A journalist from Watson also wins in the culture category. This is not the first time that Simone Meier has won the award. She wins with 34 percent of the online vote. “Nobody writes nicer texts about culture and trash TV”, someone describes his work.
