In the popular American series “King of Queens” he played the grumpy grandfather Arthur Spooner. Now Jerry Stiller has died at the age of 92, as his son Ben said on Twitter.
Actor Jerry Stiller is dead and his son Ben Stiller confirmed it on Twitter. “It saddens me to announce that my father, Jerry Stiller, died of natural causes,” wrote the well-known Hollywood actor about the death of his 92-year-old father.
“He was a great father and grandfather and Anne’s most devoted husband for over 62 years. He will be greatly missed. I love you, Dad.”
“King of queens”: Arthur Spooner made him famous
Jerry Stiller is best known for his role in the television series “King of Queens”. Stiller played the quirky “Arthur Spooner,” who lives with her daughter (Leah Remini) and her husband (Kevin James) in the Queens borough of New York. Especially with his son-in-law, Arthur regularly messes with his hair.
Over the course of his career, the Stiller, born in 1927, was in front of the camera for numerous television and film productions. He was seen in “Law and Order” and “Seinfeld”, among others. Most recently, he appeared alongside his son Ben Stiller in the comedy “Zoolander 2”. In addition to his involvement in the movie and series business, Jerry Stiller was also active as a Broadway actor and comedian.
In 1954 he married actress Anne Meara, with whom he remained together until his death in 2015. The marriage gave birth to their son Ben and daughter Amy Stiller. The two are still active as actors today.
