Vanessa Mai is actually called Vanessa Marija Else Ferber. Mai’s stage name was taken from her month of birth after becoming a member of the Wolkenfrei gang. At the age of seven, he was already on stage with his father, whom he occasionally accompanied on the tambourine.
At the age of 15, Mai still seemed to have a focused dance career. She then participated in the Hip Hop World Cup in Las Vegas with the then German teacher, the dance group Getting Craz’d, but was in last place.
After graduating from high school, she initially trained as a media designer. In 2012, Mai had a chance by chance: Because lead singer Heike Wanner left the Schlagerband Wolkenfrei for personal reasons, May was recruited as a singer by Cloud Free member Marc Fischer when he went to a concert.
With his debut album “Endlos in Love”, which was released in February 2014, Wolkenfrei hit the album charts in all German-speaking countries. However, the band broke up just a year later.
Thereafter, Vanessa Mai appeared alone as a “cloudless star”. In 2015, his album “Wachgeküsst” was released with the single “Wolke 7”, whose success is no less important thanks to his appearance on Florian Silbereisen’s show “Die Beste im Sommer”.
In 2016, the singer decided to appear only as Vanessa Mai from now on. Cloud-free was finally history. This did not affect his career, on the contrary.
In the same year, his album “Für Dich”, produced by Dieter Bohlen, was released with the single “Ich die ‘für dich”. He then toured solo with 25 concerts and sat next to Dieter Bohlen, H.P. Baxxter and Michelle on the “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” jury.
In 2017 Vanessa Mai released her fourth album titled “Regenbogen”, ended her collaboration with Dieter Bohlen and after four years of marriage she married her friend Andreas Ferber, who happens to be Andrea Berg’s stepson.
In the same year, he participated in the RTL dance show “Let’s Dance”, where he achieved a remarkable second place with his dance partner Christian Polanc.
The pop singer also released a successful album in 2018 and 2019, but was also geared towards acting. In 2018 he had a special appearance on the RTL program “Freundinnen – Now more than ever”.
In 2020 Vanessa Mai played alongside Axel Prahl in the movie “Just with you”, in which she played a sick singer. In addition, she celebrated a successful start as a radio presenter at SWR4 Baden-Württemberg.
