For the second time in a week, SBB had to deal with IT problems in Switzerland on Friday afternoon. Tickets could not be purchased and the schedule could not be checked online.

The platforms’ bulletin boards were also affected, as announced by SBB. Departure times and train tracks were no longer displayed.

At around 5.30pm, the malfunction was resolved on the online channels, as announced by SBB on the health news service Twitter. Individual customer information channels and points of sale may still need a bit of start-up time. Unfortunately, incorrect information cannot be ruled out either.

Previously, travelers could start their trip temporarily without a ticket, as SBB tweeted on Friday afternoon. There had already been a major outage on Monday. However, Friday’s outage was unrelated to her, SBB spokesman Raffael Hirt said when asked by the Keystone-SDA news agency.

The riot started at 3:30 p.m., Hirt said. The reason for the failure is various background IT systems causing problems.
