The Swiss authorities’ crown master plan consists of twelve pages and addresses the central issues in the fight against pandemics. The main objective: «Prevent human victims and keep the economic damage low». The measures taken must be taken “with the necessary sense of proportion and as gently as possible.”
Those in charge still cling to the fact that a lockdown like in spring should be avoided. And: Schools also need to stay as open as possible. The strategy document is dated October 22, 2020, almost a week ago. It is now known that the situation in the crown changes from day to day, sometimes drastically, and that every day counts.
Task Force urgently warns
On Tuesday, however, exponents of the Corona Task Force spoke. In about two weeks, all beds in intensive care units would be occupied if more serious action is not taken immediately. And: a lock must also be possible.
The Federal Council has announced a press conference for today, Wednesday, October 28, 2020, to provide information on the new measures. According to media reports, what has already been arranged is that the assessment of risk countries will be adjusted. The formula for this should now be Switzerland +60. If, for example, Switzerland has 700 infections per 100,000 inhabitants during a 14-day period, countries that have 760 infections per 100,000 inhabitants during a 14-day period enter the risk list.
What decisions will the Federal Council continue to make? Will the measures be massively toughened, as the working group pointed out, or is it still up to the cantons to decide now?
The timing of Wednesday’s press conference has yet to be announced. Telebasel will keep you updated.
