Internet laughs at new Federal Council photo and is playing with alternatives – Switzerland

(gb.) In this year’s Federal Council photo, members of the state government were able to be very close to each other despite the pandemic. The Federal Councilors were individually photographed and placed in front of a photo of a drone of the Federal Palace.

As soon as it was published, Montage has already inspired numerous Twitter users to create their own compositions. Some would have preferred to see the Federal Council on the ski slopes this year than in front of the Federal Palace.

“For the sake of the economy,” writes one user on Twitter, members of the government have found their way into the mountains. In another version, the Federal Council can be found with the complete ski equipment on the chair lift. And the satirical newspaper Nebelspalter sent the Federal Council on a ski vacation.

The composition of the government members in the new photo was also discussed on Twitter. Director and comedian Patrick Karpiczenko scoffed at the fact that new federal president Guy Parmelin looks a bit big compared to his colleagues.

Schaffhausen SP National Councilor Martina Munz, however, noted that the women in the new photo are a bit off the game. However, she interpreted this positively: “Women take the men in the middle and give them the frame,” she wrote on Twitter.

The fact is that members of the state government line up according to fixed rules for the photo. In the middle is the federal president with the vice president (this year it’s Ignazio Cassis) on the left. The remaining members are aligned according to the principle of seniority from the inside out: Older members come first. Acting Federal Chancellor Walter Thurnherr remains on the sidelines as usual.

Last but not least, the Federal Palace drone photo is getting fat. Alluding to the pink sky, one user wryly writes: “Is it still getting dark in Bern?”

Now it’s your turn: vote!
