Netherlands: Frank de Boer, new bond coach
Frank de Boer is the new coach of the Dutch national team. The former defender succeeds Ronald Koeman, who is now in command of FC Barcelona. De Boer began his senior football coaching career 12 years ago as an assistant on the Netherlands national team. Subsequently, the 50-year-old was head coach of Ajax Amsterdam, Inter Milan, Crystal Palace and in the United States at MLS club Atlanta. As a player, De Boer has also worked for Ajax, FC Barcelona, Galatasaray Istanbul and Glasgow Rangers, among others.
General: German football is well represented in the election
The European Football Association announced on Wednesday the 3 nominees for the UEFA player award for the 2019/20 season. Champions League champion Bayern Munich’s goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and forward Robert Lewandowski and Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) will be selected by a jury. The deciding factor was the vote of 80 club coaches who participated in the group stage of the CL and Europa League, as well as 55 journalists.
Lionel Messi came fourth alongside Neymar. Like Cristiano Ronaldo, the Argentine had always reached the bottom three since 2010. The best coaches are Hansi Flick, Julian Nagelsmann and Jürgen Klopp.
England: Wolverhampton sign Semedo
Right-back Nelson Semedo goes from FC Barcelona to Wolverhampton Wanderers. The 26-year-old Portuguese signed a three-year contract with the English. According to the Spanish club, the transfer business amounts to 30 million euros plus bonus payments of up to 10 million euros. Semedo played for Barça for 3 seasons. It was used in 82 games.
