(dpo) After the WEF announced that the 2021 event in Davos would be canceled, the organizers looked for an alternative location in Switzerland. Now it’s certain: the next annual meeting of the World Economic Forum will take place in Lucerne-Bürgenstock. The WEF announced this on Wednesday.
The gathering of the global business elite is scheduled to take place May 18-21, 2021, provided that the health and safety of all participants can be ensured. Its motto is “The Big Reboot” and, according to the ad, it should combine physical and digital elements. As a result, the Lucerne-Bürgenstock participants will be connected to a network of 400 centers around the world.
WEF 2022 should take place again in Davos
The governing councils of Lucerne and Nidwalden welcomed the choice of location in statements. The relocation of the WEF to Central Switzerland is a “good opportunity” for the tourist destination Lucerne-Bürgenstock-Nidwalden, as announced by the State Chancellery of the Canton of Lucerne. The cantons of Lucerne and Nidwalden, the Bürgenstock Resort and the WEF are involved in the planning work. The complex, which comprises 383 and four hotels, described the choice of location in a press release as an “accolade.”
According to its own information, the World Economic Forum intends to be back in Davos for the annual meeting in 2022.
