Inkscape 1.0: Free vector graphics program receives HiDPI support

The free vector graphics program Inkscape is released after 16 years in version 1.0 with HiDPI support for high-resolution display devices and a native version for macOS. Additionally, the graphics editor has been fully migrated to the free GTK 3 GUI toolkit and has received many new features for graphics editing.

First major release after three years.

More than three years after the last major release of version 0.92 on January 2017, users can now use Inkscape in addition to Windows and Linux natively on macOS and receive numerous innovations.

New library and numerous innovations.

When transferring from the GTK 2 program library to GTK 3, the free graphics software now also offers improved HiDPI support, as well as customizable themes and icon sets.

• Support for variable fonts.
• New options to export PNG
• Native support for macOS
• Body text supported by the browser

As a free and open source alternative to Illustrator, Freehand, CorelDraw, or Xara X, Inkscape can import formats such as PostScript, EPS, JPEG, PNG, and TIFF and export graphics as PNG and in various vector-based formats.
