In the spring, when it was still unclear whether the Swiss airline would be bailed out by the state, members of the company’s management curbed costs. Among other things they postponed the decision on whether they would pay the variable salary components, the bonuses, starting in 2019.

It was about 50 percent of the base salary, after all, it had been a splendid year for Switzerland: at 578 million francs, it achieved the second best profit in its history, the operating profit margin, which is decisive for the bonus, it went back to double digits.
