A lot must have happened at Märstetten TG on Thursday night. The community meeting was held in the multipurpose room called Weitsicht. And if you can believe the “Thurgauer Zeitung”, it is extremely chaotic. So the press was excluded and Deputy Mayor Heinz Nater (SVP) announced his resignation from the executive branch. It’s the third in a few weeks.
This shows: In the Märstetten municipal council, the blessing of the house not only hangs crooked, it no longer hangs. There are two camps in the Thurgau executive that now oppose spiders.
I already started under a bad star
It all started almost 18 months ago, when Susanne Vaccari-Ruch (non-partisan) was elected as the new mayor. A few months later, she accused her predecessor, Jürg Schumacher, of failing to make a real deal with her and of leaving a mess at the office. What this rejected.
And the problem continued. In mid-September, households in Märstetter received a brochure from four councilors and one former councilor. They attacked Vaccari-Ruch: this would make “important decisions, especially budget-relevant transactions, outside the committee and without consultation,” he said.
“Intimidation behind closed doors”
In an interview, Vaccari-Ruch replied that they were all lies. “What I experience here every day is intimidation behind closed doors. From the beginning they tried to make my life difficult, ”he said. The truth is that the majority of the municipal council does not work and deals exclusively with personal sensibilities. They had no experience in building complex deals, nor were they willing to learn.
At Thursday’s community meeting, she broke her neck after resigned Deputy Mayor Nater again harshly criticized her. According to those present, he pointed out the incompetence of three colleagues from the council. For example, laptops are “forgotten” so that the budget that has not been created is not noticed.
“He emptied the chropf for three-quarters of an hour,” one Märstetterin told the “Thurgauer Zeitung”. “It’s amazing what he had to go through. I don’t think there are many men who would have gotten over this. “
Märstetten has had problems for a long time
The community meeting even made it to social media. Resident Reto Schubnell tweeted: “The women really looked down on old Märstetter. The whole room is silent. “
He also spoke of sentiment, intimidation and voted for a merger with Weinfelden. Maybe that really makes sense. Because even Vaccari-Ruch’s predecessor, Schumacher, said that he too had experienced bullying and almost suffered from burnout. Even his predecessors would have had difficulties in office. There seems to be no good karma for the praesidium of the political community. (sf)
