Although Swiss tent builders are in dire straits, Zurich hospitals are sourcing equipment from the neighboring country. The SVP is very critical, but the situation is not so clear.

Anyone who gets tested for the corona virus at one of the new testing centers in Dübendorf or Triemli-Spital will likely be in a tent in Germany, much to the chagrin of the senior vice president. Therefore, you have submitted an application to the governing council.

Swiss tent builders reportedly lost 90 percent of their sales due to the corona pandemic. And what are Switzerland and the canton of Zurich doing? “Tents for rent in Germany!” Wrote the SVP in its application, which it submitted this week.

It is an “affront to the Swiss tent builders” who are threatened with bankruptcy. Therefore, the SVP wants to know from the governing council who gave the order to pitch the German tents and according to the guidelines for this award. The tents come from a company in northern Germany.

The request went to Swiss companies

The Zurich Health Directorate emphasized to the Keystone-SDA news agency that it was not the canton that was responsible for this order, but the operators of the test center, that is, the Triemli and Balgrist hospitals.

Swiss companies had been commissioned to build the tent. However, they would have passed the order, “unfortunately to a German company”.
