  • Klyuchevskoi, Eurasia’s highest active volcano, emitted massive amounts of ash and lava in an eruption on Tuesday.
  • The danger level “Orange” has been declared for aviation.

A video recorded the eruption of the Klyuchevskoi on the night from Sunday to Monday. The volcano is located on the Kamchatka Peninsula in the Far East of Russia.

The ashes can be spit out at any time from a height of five to seven kilometers. That is why the “Orange” danger level for aviation was declared. Volcanologists warn that the volcano’s eruption could affect low-flying planes. They also indicate that the lava flow flows into the Erna Glacier, posing a threat to the local population.

Klyuchevskoi, also known as Klyuchevskaya Sopka, has an altitude of 4750 meters. It is the highest volcano on the continent and one of the most active volcanoes in Kamchatka. The closest settlement is only 30 km away.
