Great alarm at the Münster prison: a prisoner (40) used a razor blade as a weapon when opening the cells at 6:10 am, threatening a prison employee with it, according to “Bild.de”. He called for a helicopter to get him out of the asylum!
After the 6.30am alarm, a large number of policemen stood in front of the Münster prison for hours; a special working group was also transferred. As the local police announced on Twitter, the man was killed in action.
According to a police spokesman, the police fired at the perpetrator when they acceded to him. The hostage escaped unscathed.
As “Bild.de” writes, the man was serving a four-month prison sentence for resisting law enforcement officials. He would have been released in three weeks. According to the Justice Department, he would have served his sentence in full on November 10. At first it was not clear why the man was trying to escape now, of all time.
Because the JVA Münster is located in the center of the city, the police operation caused disruptions in road traffic. The blockade has now been lifted, as the police announced on Twitter. (eb)
