Three of the four killed in the Buchs AG homicide were allegedly poisoned with drugs. According to the Aargau Prosecutor’s Office, it appears that one victim was suffocated. A family man had killed his three children and himself.

The victims, who were found by the 37-year-old man’s wife in a single-family home on Monday, had been autopsied, the prosecutor said Thursday. It is currently unclear with what substance they were poisoned, because toxicological findings are still pending.

Investigating authorities would assume that the act was not committed with affection. However, there was no indication in the period leading up to the 37-year period that the crime could have ended.

The murdered children were three, eleven and 13 years old. The family dog also died.

The man’s motive and the course of the act remain the subject of the ongoing investigation, the prosecutor wrote. The canton police were informed Monday morning at 7.15 am that four dead had been found in the family home. The house is located in a quiet residential area near the train station in Buchs, a neighboring municipality to Aarau.
