Hertha star Salomon Kalou has unleashed a storm of outrage with a live Facebook feed. The chronicle of the outrageous clip really has it all.
He first tells athletic trainer Henrik Kuchno (46) that he is shooting a video “for women in Ivory Coast.” Kalou then goes to the player’s locker room. There he greets his teammates Skjelbred, Pekarik and Jarstein with a fist, but Ibisevic clearly gives a handshake, a violation of the rules in times of the Corona crisis. The DFL hygiene concept strictly prohibits handshakes, and Kalou also does not maintain the safety distance of one and a half meters.
After that he gets even crazier. Kalou places the cell phone on the bench and begins to argue with his comrades about the exemption in Hertha. The club is said to have deducted more wages from the player than previously agreed. Ibisevic can be heard in English: “Why are you lying to us? Maybe it’s a mistake on purpose. If you do that with each player, you win a lot of money.” It is highly unlikely that Ibisevic has any idea about the live broadcast.
“Please delete the video!”
Kalou’s tour is not over yet. He quickly blocks Jordan Torunarigha’s Crown Test (22). Physiotherapist David de Mel intervenes: “There should only be two people in the room” and advises Kalou: “Please delete the video!” The former Chelsea player just laughs, saying it’s just a joke.
The campaign finds the DFL (German Football League) to be less fun, as can be seen in an official statement on Twitter: “The images of Salomon Kalou from the Hertha BSC booth are absolutely unacceptable. There can be no tolerance for this, also with regard to the players and clubs that adhere to the guidelines because they have understood the gravity of the situation.
DFL and angry club
Kalou has taken the video off the internet again, but multiple copies have been around for a long time. Hertha also feels compelled to comment on Monday night, and not only that: the club releases Kalou. “With the video from the booth, Salomon Kalou violated the basic rules of the team and displayed behavior that is not appropriate for the situation and does not correspond to the club’s rules of conduct. Hertha BSC therefore decided to suspend him from training and game operations with immediate effect.
Kalou apologizes in the club’s announcement: “I am sorry to have given the impression that I am not taking Corona seriously. I apologize for that. The opposite is the case, because I am particularly concerned about people in Africa, because medical care is not as good as in Germany. I really didn’t think and was happy that our tests were negative. I would also like to apologize to those shown in the video that they did not know that I was broadcasting live and that I did not want to put in such a situation. “(Say)
