Heavy continuous rains – floods: police warn of trips to the canton of Uri – News

A2 motorway closed

The A2 motorway between Beckenried in the canton of Nidwalden and Erstfeld in the canton of Uri was closed due to flooding. After a temporary improvement, the situation in the canton of Uri has worsened again. The Reuss overflows its banks in various places between Attinghausen and Flüelen.

The closure of the A2 must last in both directions until at least Saturday afternoon. Transit traffic, especially heavy traffic, will be diverted in both directions via the A13 San Bernadino route, the Uri canton police said.

Drive through the canton of Uri

Due to the flood situation in Uri Canton and associated traffic restrictions, the Uri Canton Police recommend avoiding Uri Canton. It also warns of possible debris flows between Gurtnellen and Wassen on Gotthardstrasse.

France: several people missing after heavy rains

Heavy rains have caused dangerous flooding and chaotic traffic conditions in the region of the French Riviera metropolis, Nice.
