- Following further accusations against the social welfare office in Dübendorf, the city council withdrew the social file of the SVP social director Jacqueline Hofer, with immediate effect.
- According to the announcement, he is separating from the head of the social department “by mutual agreement with immediate effect.”
“We have to get Ms. Hofer out of the shooting range,” said Mayor André Ingold, explaining the procedure. Two weeks ago, the city council announced investigations into the grievances at the welfare office; They want to do it in peace, “no political jokes.” He does not want to talk about disempowerment, despite the fact that the City Council has withdrawn the “Social” file of his party colleague, Mrs. Hofer.
“Highly problematic”
However, the separation from the head of the social department is directly related to the incorrectly published support guidelines. “From our point of view, this is a clear lack of transparency towards our population.” It doesn’t work that way and it’s very troublesome.
Ingold admits, however, that it is also a breach of trust. The head of the social department had promised to activate the support guidelines, and that was not the case. Entire chapters would have been missing. So was the latest incident just the last straw to break the barrel? “You can interpret it that way,” says Ingold.
The city council clearly no longer had any confidence.
The city of Dübendorf has made headlines several times in the past with complaints to the social welfare office. Among other things, a social worker had posted far-right posts on Facebook. The most recent complaints are from early September: welfare recipients were over-monitored and treated with derogation, and conversations were secretly recorded.
Jacqueline Hofer will no longer be responsible for the social file until the investigations against the Dübendorfer Sozialamt are concluded. Mayor André Ingold takes over the file. The parliamentary inquiry should be completed and a report should be available within six months.
