There should not be another 1.88 billion francs “without a binding climate transformation specifically for the aviation industry,” Glättli emphasized according to Saturday’s speech to party delegates. Therefore, it proposes a green and social stimulus program with three pillars.
First, the energy transition can be boosted with a solar energy offensive. According to Glättli, the electricity supply should be 100 percent renewable by 2035 at the latest. In addition to hydroelectric power, in the future a third of the necessary electricity will be produced by photovoltaic systems.
To achieve the goal, funding for the expansion of renewables must double at least from the current 1.3 billion Swiss francs annually.
Second, with an additional training offensive, the Greens want to “shake hands with the people in transformation as a society.” Currently, some 150,000 people are registered as unemployed. These would have to be specifically supported with more training and retraining. According to the will of the Greens, the Federal Council will decide on an educational voucher program worth 500 million Swiss francs.
Third, the Greens call for a care offensive worth one billion Swiss francs each for the care sector and for the care of children beyond the family. Those responsible for the emergency care are not only the lack of training support, but also the unattractive working conditions, both in childcare and childcare.
Despite rising unemployment, as Glättli pointed out, there is a shortage of skilled workers in the care sector. By 2030, around 65,000 additional nurses will be needed and only 50 percent of the nursing staff in Switzerland will be trained here. About half of the trained nurses also quit their jobs during their working lives, Glättli said. (SDA)
