The death of 25-year-old Colby Cave shakes the NHL. The deceased’s wife spoke on Instagram.
Colby Cave died Saturday of complications from a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 25. Due to restrictions in the Corona crisis, his wife Emily was not allowed to visit him in a Toronto hospital in recent days.
With an emotional Instagram post, Cave’s wife said goodbye to “my best friend and the love of my life.” Her heart was fragmented, wrote Emily Cave. “I never thought I would be a widow before our first wedding anniversary.” In addition to his wife, the NHL professional also leaves behind a young daughter.
Oilers in deep pain
Edmonton ice hockey legend Wayne Gretzky was also deeply affected by Cave’s death. “He was a wonderful player with a great future, but he was an even better person,” “The Great One” tweeted.
